Abandoned Dog Tied To A Tree With A Note

A two-year-old German shepherd mix dog, named Zeus, was found tied to a tree with a note from the owner claiming she could no longer afford to care for him.

Luckily, Prince George County Animal Shelter was able to rescue him. The staff believes he was not out there long. The sweet dog was found in Virginia woods tied to a tree with no water or shelter. There was only a half-eaten bag of dog food sitting next to him.

Zeus was friendly and looked as though he was smiling the second he was rescued. It did not take long for the staff and the world to fall in love with him. His picture was posted on the shelter’s Facebook page and received almost 800 shares, with many people interested in adopting him.

Zeus finally found a forever home with a loving family. The shelter updated their post, saying that he was adopted, and gave some words of advice to people who are no longer able to care for their pets. They stated, “For anyone who may find themselves in need of rehoming a pet, please reach out to your local animal services. Many areas have resources to assist if they cannot assist personally. We are not sure this owner lived in our county. If they did, please know you may call us. We are always here to assist, whether it be with resources that can help financially, with feeding your pet, or even with surrendering him or her to us.”

Leaving a pet alone with no food or shelter is not acceptable. If you are no longer able to care for your pet, please bring them to a shelter when they are open. Dogs give so much and ask for so little in return.
