Dog Is Hit By A Car And Left For Dead

Lucky got his name because he is lucky to be alive.

Lucky was struck by a car and then left to die. Who could hit a dog and then just leave them?! Luckily, a good samaritan found him and rushed him to Compassionate Animal Rescue Efforts. The poor dog was in bad shape and they were not sure if he would survive.

Compassionate Animal Rescue Efforts is a no-kill, non-profit, rescue group in Tulsa, Oklahoma. They help high risk dogs due to overpopulation, homelessness, abuse or neglect find forever homes.

A vet examined the dog and found he had a torn diaphragm, broken pelvis on both sides, and a broken front leg. He needed immediate surgery for a chance to survive.

Serious surgery like this is very costly and hard for a shelter to cover. GreaterGood’s Friends Program stepped up and provided a grant to cover the surgery and the cost of his rehabilitation.

Lucky pulled through surgery and showed just how strong he was. He sported a dark green cast with flowers on his front left leg and a handmade cone made out of towels around his neck to prevent him from messing with the cast. His foster family was spoiling him the way he deserved.

He made a quick recovery and was back to normal after a remarkable 16 weeks of treatment. Now he is healthy enough to run and play like a normal dog.

This sweet and striking pup did not have to wait long to find a forever home. Now that he is completely healed and in a forever home, he plays the day away with his new brother.
