Actor Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is notorious for being a very large, muscular, and ferocious-looking man. But he has a huge soft spot for man’s best friend — he absolutely loves dogs!
Earlier this year, the actor and fitness guru put out a very important PSA after one of his own four-legged friends passed away. He wants dog-owners to be aware about poisonous mushrooms in backyards, parks, and other areas where dogs spend time. His own pup accidentally munched on one of the toxic mushrooms, and passed away before he could be saved.
The Rock’s good work with pups continues, this time with one named after the actor.
Los Angeles shelter Saving Spot picked up the 4-month-old puppy and named him Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, because “he is going to need to be a great fighter to win this battle.” He was found with a wire wrapped around his mouth. Tests also revealed that the poor little guy also had a severe heart murmur that would require surgery.
Actress Michelle Trachtenberg learned about the puppy and mentioned the actor in a Tweet about the abandoned puppy’s needs. The Rock responded by donating $1,500 to the GoFundMe page set up for the dog’s surgery!
Wow! Thanks in large part to The Rock, this little guy can get the treatments he needs. Now, we hope he’ll soon find his forever home!
