LWD Adoptable Dog of the Day: Sweet Senior Gypsy Rose

Alright, Indianapolis-area dog lovers: meet Gypsy Rose

She’s a lovely, laid-back, 9-year-old Shih Tzu Mix who came to the Humane Society of Indianapolis after being surrendered as a stray to Indianapolis Animal Care Services. Now she’s on the lookout for a forever home. Let’s try and find her one!

The folks at IndyHumane love her, but they’d sure like to bid her a fond farewell, knowing she’s got a couch on which to be a furry potato!

“She loves a slow-paced lifestyle!” they told us. “She’s happiest sitting beside you on the couch or laying at your feet in front of the fire.”

What’s more, she’s pretty low-maintenance.

“Gypsy Rose only requires short walks to take care of business or to explore the backyard, and then it’s back to cuddling. She’s ready to relax in a quiet home. While G.R. prefers her new friends not pet her back or pick her up, she does enjoy gentle attention and praise and may pair well with another laid-back dog.”

This dog would prefer a home without young children, but the IndyHumane staff would be happy to arrange an introduction for a family with older kids in the home.

Gypsy Rose, and other dogs like her, have been helped thanks to a grant from the Grey Muzzle Organization — which allows IndyHumane to help senior dogs with necessary medical and dental care. G.R. received dental care and extractions once in their care, and they were able to assess her health and learn more about her needs. In addition, their behavioral team was able to do a thorough assessment to identify her character, helping them to determine the best possible matches. Grey Muzzle’s help will ensure Gypsy Rose continues to get excellent care while she’s in the shelter, but really: they’d be happiest if she found a love match of a home where she can spend the rest of her life.

Are you in love with that fuzzy face yet? To learn more about Gypsy Rose, please visit IndyHumane. And if you’d like to help with the Grey Muzzle Organization’s mission to ensure no old dog dies alone and afraid, consider donating to help them help dogs like Gypsy Rose. <3
