Maryland Firefighters Rescue Dog From Hole

In an impressive turn of events, people saved Lassie from a hole in the ground!

Just before noon on Saturday, Anne Arundel County firefighters responded to a call that a dog had fallen into an old septic hole.

The collie, named Siri, was down about 6 feet, trapped in the mud, which necessitated a rescuer being lowered into the hole to retrieve her.

A post on the department’s Facebook page read:

“Members of the Anne Arundel County Fire Department, assisted by Annapolis City firefighters, successfully rescued a dog who had fallen into a sinkhole this morning in Woodland Beach. Around 11:50 this morning firefighters received the call reporting the 85-pound dog being stuck 6 feet down a hole measuring approximately two feet by two feet in the 2000 block of Shore Drive. Members of the Special Operations Confined Space Rescue Team successfully removed the apparently uninjured dog in about 90 minutes.”

Hopefully, this “Lassie” will return the favor should anyone else fall into a well nearby
