At the Pasco County Animal Services in Land O Lakes, Florida, 13-year-old Sylvie, a white female mixed breed pup was an owner surrender; she has been at the shelter since December 8, when her family stated they could no longer afford to care for her.
“Sylvie entered the shelter thin with muscle wasting, ridden with fleas, dirty and with symptoms that would indicate an untreated urinary tract infection. Sylvie was scare and painful, she acted fractious on intake which earned her a caution card.”
Fortunately, the next day, the card was quickly removed from her cage. She obviously decompressed and seemed friendly with both volunteers and staff.
The shelter is hoping a rescue will intervene and save her. Her geriatric status needs a full evaluation including a diagnosis and treatment for cataracts, arthritis, moderate dental disease and ear/urinary tract infections. She is currently being treated with Carprofen and Clavamox, Capstar and Advantage to treat her mange and flea infestation.
Sylvie is spayed and tested negative for heartworms. She is up to date on vaccines and microchipped.
“Pupdate 12/15 5p. Sylvie is still without rescue. Our 13 year old owner surrender pup is sitting in Building C, waiting for help to arrive…”
