On Saturday, an animal shelter in East Hampton, New York, announced a very special adoption. Papito a Chihuahua who was born with no eyes, has finally found a home.
The Animal Rescue Fund of the Hamptons, the shelter which has cared for the blind dog for well over a year, broke the news to its Facebook followers, writing:
Our hearts are full as we share the news of a very special adoption. It is with great joy that we announce that PAPITO, our blind Chihuahua has found his forever home!
Papito was rescued from Puerto Rico in the aftermath of Hurricane Maria and his disability left him waiting for his own home for an extended period of time. The animal welfare agency commended the woman who made a special effort to make this special dog her own:
His adopter Sally, traveled seven hours with her two sweet dogs Maddie & Pandora, and spent two days getting acquainted with our sweet boy. Early this morning they journeyed home. Though there wasn’t a dry eye at ARF, we are so happy he will now have a family to call his own.
And thanked those who had inquired about Papito:
Our thanks to everyone who inquired about him, prayed for him, and wished him well. Our enormous gratitude and thanks to Sally and her girls for opening their heats and home to PAPITO. We will miss you little man but you’ll always be in our hearts
Enjoy your new life Papito!
