Information is being sought after a badly neglected dog was discovered in a filthy cage which was abandoned on a logging road in Clackamas County, Oregon. The Oregon Humane Society has announced the offering of a $500 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of whoever abandoned the young Pomeranian beside a logging road in the area of South Hillockburn and Resort Road near Goat Mountain in Estacada on June 24.
According to the animal welfare agency, the dog is emaciated and missing half of the hair on his body.
The dog, dubbed Treasure by shelter staff, is safe today thanks to good Samaritans who found him and brought him to a DoveLewis for emergency care. The Oregon Humane Society is providing continuing care for Treasure and is leading the investigation into the cruelty case.
Leon Colas, OHS Vice President of Humane Investigations and Law Enforcement, stated:
“Our hope is that our pet-loving community will help us find the owner of the dog, or whoever is responsible. Anyone who would do this to an animal needs to be held accountable.”
Treasure continues to receive care at the OHS Medical Center and is not available for adoption.
