Brokenhearted Basset hound suffering multiple injuries saved by rescue
In Cincinnati, Ohio, a local animal rescue has stepped up to help an injured Basset hound who suffered multiple injuries earlier this week after she was hit by a car in West Virginia.
According to HART Cincinnati, Sammie, the 55-pound basset mix had been brought to a rural shelter in West Virginia by an elderly man who told the staff he found the dog and brought her in for help. The dog suffered a broken leg, a dislocated pelvis and a fractured hip socket which will require surgery. She also has a urinary infection and tested positive for Lyme and Ehrlich diseases.
Veterinarians stated Sammie recently had a litter of puppies, but there were none where she was found.
After Sammie undergoes surgery and has had a chance to recuperate at a foster home, she will be available for adoption.
