An urgent plea for help has been issued on behalf of a shelter dog who is “code red,” which means he can be euthanized at any moment. Fred Astaire, a four-year-old German shepherd, has been at the Riverside County Animal Control – City of Rialto (California) animal shelter for months and his time is up.
On Wednesday, the Saving Riverside Shelter Dogs Facebook page shared a sweet encounter between Fred Astaire and a young visitor, writing:
This boy stole our hearts the day we met him. While videoing dogs in the needs rescue building, a little girl quietly stood in front of Fred Astaire’s kennel as he was eagerly, and playfully standing on his rear legs slowly spinning in circles. The little girl then pointed and said “Daddy, he’s a good dancer!” How could that not melt your heart?
Unfortunately, no one else has seen how great of a dog Fred Astaire is. He is now status RED and can be euthanized any time without further notice. Please share him for reputable rescue or adopter.
Saving Fred Astaire
Time is not on this dog’s side. Please network Fred Astaire’s adoption information and help him get the second chance he so desperately needs.
Shelter notes: “Alopecia, yeast odorous thick skin on various parts of body. Obtained two separate skin scrapes= both negative. Has been in shelter over a month”
