Desperate for a loving home – dog has been at shelter for four long years

A dog at an Illinois animal shelter is desperate for a loving home. Dexter has been at the Will County Humane Society for four very long years – is there anyone out there who is willing to give him a chance?

On July 10, the animal shelter wrote an informative post on Dexter’s behalf:

This is Dexter who has been with us for four years. He desperately needs a good home! We are looking for a home without children. Applicants must have recent big dog experience. Dexter does not trust people right away so you will have to commit to several visits to the shelter in order for him to get to know you.

He does get along with good natured dogs. Training sessions in your home are required and included. Our trainer evaluated him previously and said he is a great candidate for training because he is so eager to please. He is very smart.

A video shows Dexter’s loving side (and adoration of car rides!):

This video of Dexter shows how he loves you with his whole heart and soul once he knows you are “one of the good guys”! Dexter needs to trust you. Several visits would be required by all family members. We are looking for experienced owners only. No children.

Will you please take a moment to help Dexter find his new person? Please share this article with Dexter’s adoption information – he has been homeless for far too long!
