In Blackpool, England, a brindle and white dog was found tied up a church with a note from his owner which read, “I love you and I’m so so sorry.” In addition, the handwritten note included:
“Life has taken a really bad turn for me and I couldn’t imagine him being outside with me cold and hungry. Please believe me when I say I haven’t done this easily. My dog means the world to me and I don’t know what else to do.
He is a placid, friendly loving dog. He will be seven on 22 March 2020.”
The Staffordshire bull terrier blend has since been named Cracker; he had been abandoned by the church’s alter. The dog was found by the staff in the morning as the church is never locked.
According to BBC News, Cracker has since been in the care of the RSPCA and is reported to be doing very well since having been abandoned earlier in December. Staff at the organization had hoped Cracker’s owner would have come forward. Sometimes circumstances become overwhelming, but it is hoped the dog’s owner would want to see him again and know he is doing well; especially as the final words in the heartbreaking note made so many cry.
“My heart is broken and I will truly miss him more than words can say. I hope he can be found a new home he deserves. I love you and I am so so sorry. xxxx”
Please don’t abandon your pets – there are better alternatives. Be kind and be the voice for those who cannot speak.
