A dog, left tied to a fence, was severely burned when grass was set on fire. Canada’s Saving Grace Animal Society alerted Facebook followers to the sad situation, which left the dog with widespread burns, on Saturday:
we received a call from the RCMP, the dog was tied to fence and individuals lit surrounding grass on fire, leaving dog tied up, it is currently under investigation.
The dog, dubbed Phoenix is receiving veterinary care for her injuries. On Sunday, the animal welfare agency wrote:
PHOENIX UPDATE **
She is stable, and being a great patient! Giving kisses to all the staff
She does however have third degree burns covering 50% of her body. They have made us aware that caring for her will be a huge financial undertaking and a substantial time commitment, but we are not going to stop fighting for her.
We were able to pick her up and she is currently on route to Red Deer’s 24 hour pet hospital where she will spend the night, then hopefully we can transfer her to our regular clinic in the morning.
