In eastern Alabama, a four-year-old girl missing for two days in the woods was found safe on Friday with her hound dog at her side.
According to the Trussville Tribune, Evelyn Vadie Sides was found in good condition after disappearing on Wednesday afternoon from her babysitter’s sight in the backyard while walking with the family dog. Multiple agencies and volunteers searched the remote area of forest with a creek running through it for any sign of the child.
A member of the search team heard a dog bark, and just moments later saw the little girl’s head pop up with her bright red hair. She drank some Gatorade and acted as if getting lost “was no big deal.”
When rescuers tried to grab the reddish-brown hound dog named Lucy, she ran away; she has since returned home on her own. Lucy never left the child’s side.
Good girl Lucy.
