My Lovely Horse Rescue is currently caring for the dog now dubbed Hamish.

“Tonight little Hamish TV star is at home snuggled up with our volunteer Ted who works for Irish Rail.

This little guy jumped on the train today and luckily was found safe.

We are hoping to reunite him with his owners, until then thanks to MLHR Ted and Shauna for looking after him.”

Hamish disembarked the commuter train from Sallins in Co Kildare alone. It wasn’t long before Irish Rail sent out an appeal asking for the owners to come forward. Many people replied stating they were the owners in addition to a lot of inquiries ready to adopt. When he arrived at the Heuston Station, the staff at the station called out for the public’s help.

“Anyone lost their dog? We have this little fella in Heuston. He was found on the 08.46 Sallins – Heuston. Help us find the owner,” the Irish Rail tweeted.

Hamish was not microchipped, but the rescue, who usually helps horses has stepped forward to help find the brown and black terrier’s owners.  He appears to be very healthy, so it is likely and hoped his family finds him soon and are reunited.

But wait – Thursday morning’s update just moments ago, from the Irish Rail will make everyone smile!
