A Kentucky man has been arrested and is facing charges for allegedly killing a dog with a pocket knife. The Glasgow Police Department issued a release about the animal cruelty incident, writing:
On 04/11/2020, the Glasgow Police Dept. responded to East College Street in reference to a complaint of a subject abusing a dog.
According to the news release, the man who killed the dog is identified as Alan Cumberland. The department writes:
Officer Carroll made contact with Alan Cumberland and after further investigation determined that Cumberland had apparently stabbed the dog with a pocket knife, killing the animal.
Alan Cumberland of Glasgow Ky., was arrested and charged with Torture Dog/Cat W/Serial Physical Injury Or Death. Animal Control removed 2 additional dogs that were not harmed.
The arrest was made by Officer Hunter Carroll, assisted by Officer Trey Wyatt and Barren-Glasgow Animal Control Officers.
There is no information included about the breed of the dog killed, but comments on the police department’s Facebook post indicate that Cumberland killed a German shepherd. Other comments on the release state that Cumberland is a dog trainer in the area.
