Man walks into shelter and asks to adopt an old dog in need of a home

A recent adoption tale out of Pennsylvania has warmed the hearts of animal lovers across the nation. Days ago, the Pennsylvania SPCA-Danville Center recounted the touching encounter which helps to restore one’s faith in humanity.

The shelter explains:

Yesterday, this gentleman wandered in the shelter and asked to see an old dog in need of a home. We paired him with Jack; a 13 year old dachshund mix who has dental disease, a heart murmur, and typical old man lumps/bumps. He said, “He’s perfect, I’ll take him. What vet do you recommend I take him too?”

Yes, the man was not put off by the dog’s advanced age…or his age-related maladies. He was perfectly content knowing that he would be able to offer the senior dog a safe place to live out the remainder of his life. The shelter continues:

Jack curled up on his lap and caught a nap while they both patiently waited for the paperwork to be processed. This is what animal welfare is all about. Falling in love, giving second chances to those who need it most, and finding the heroes in humanity. Happy tails Jack! We couldn’t be happier for you! ❤

Old dogs need love too – just because they are no longer energetic, young pups doesn’t mean that they do not have life and love to share. Thank you for opening your heart to this dog – happy tails Jack!
