Rose’s family couldn’t handle the cost, so they surrendered their senior dog to a ‘kill’ facility

A senior dog, nine years of age, was surrendered to a so-called “kill facility” by her family, who stated that they could no longer afford the cost of owning a pet. The dog, named Rose, has been at the BARC Animal Shelter in Houston, Texas, since October 23, and she could use some help to find a new home.

The Houston Underdogs Facebook page writes:

Rose was surrendered by her owner on 10/23 because of the costs related to owning a pet.🥺 We don’t have much information about this gorgeous senior lady, but can’t imagine how confused she must be.

Rose’s former owner said:

CALM DOG, LOVES TO BE PETTED, DOESN’T DO WELL WITH DOGS OR CATS, BEEN AROUND CHILDREN. We’re not sure about the dog part, as Rose has been a lovely guest while at BARC, and gets along with both the humans and dogs she’s met!🐕 Slow introductions would be advised if bringing her into a home with other dogs to be on the safe side.

Saving Rose

You can lend Rose a hand by sharing her adoption information. She should be enjoying the twilight of her life with a loving family, in a safe home, not spending her days locked away in a frightening kennel run.
