Senior dog – his family didn’t have time for him, now he’s the shelter’s longest resident

A senior dog is the longest resident at a California animal shelter after his family gave him up because they didn’t have enough time for him. The 10-year-old mixed breed, named Chocolate, has been homeless for months and staff at the facility are hopeful that someone will decide to offer him a new home.

On June 22, the Friends of the Castaic Shelter issued a plea on Chocolate’s behalf, writing:

We are putting out another plea for Chocolate‼️ #A5361200
This 10 year old lovable Teddy Bear is our LONGEST RESIDENT(in the system since March 31) and he needs a break! Turned in because his family didn’t have time for him🙁Hard of hearing but loves to talk and ask for treats.

Chocolate is described as a mellow boy who likes to play with balls and “chill.” From playgroup time, it has been determined that Chocolate does best with female dogs.
