An “old man,” with sore hips, is in need of a new home because his prior family gave him to a shelter in Westampton, New Jersey. The 13-year-old Wolfhound mix, Oliver, is at the Burlington County Shelter and he needs to find a patient and understanding owner who will help him deal with the aches and pains that accompany his advanced age.
Oliver’s advocate writes:
Meet handsome, Oliver! Oliver found himself at the shelter due to his health. This senior boy is 13 and has some pain in his hips(understandably so) and does have a hard time getting up from a laying position.
With an explanation for Oliver’s surrender:
He can become cranky when someone tries to pick him up because of the pain, and when the owner tried to pick him up, he bit him. Because of this, Oliver should go to a home with no children. Oliver is very treat motivated and you can get him to stand up without forcing him, but using treats.
Adding words of hope that he can still enjoy life with a new owner:
Oliver is a happy old man who still has some pep in his step. He enjoys going for walks and being outside. He has been very friendly towards his handlers at the shelter.
