According to court records, employee Dejean Bowens faces animal cruelty charges after allegedly kicking a dog named Mitch multiple times when the dog accidentally knocked something over. Bowens later admitted the incident to another staff member.

Mitch suffered severe injuries and was rushed to an emergency veterinary clinic. Despite immediate surgery and more than 20 minutes of CPR, the medical team could not save him. His death devastated his family and deeply affected the Seattle dog-loving community.
