The rescuers followed him, leaving food that had been infused with tranquilizers so they could get near enough to get him.  He ate some, but was also deliberate in trying to bury other portions, but demonstrated little strength for digging.  It took some time, but the tranquilizers were able to take effect and he was safely captured and transported to where he received veterinarian care for his injuries and illness.

This is a sad story about how some people seem to think animals, even those who are providing a service and making a direct contribution with their good work, are disposable.  The good news is he looks like a completely different dog now, handsome and healthy, and looking for his own forever home.

Stella was seized in 2014 by the Devon Police for being a dangerous dog.  They locked her up for two years, without any love or exercise at all.  Shelter staff were not allowed by law to interact with Stella in any way shape or form, and Devon and Cornwall police refuse to give any specific reasons as to why Stella is considered dangerous.

An assistant at the private kennel that Stella is being held called Laura Khanlarian said they put her in the kennels as required.  Stella was lucky to get out of said cage but twice a day for behavior assessments, which to say the least, nowhere near enough.

“We were always told not to exercise or go into a kennel with any dogs; regardless of character, that had been brought in under the Dangerous Dogs Act,” said Laura Khanlarian, an assistant at the shelter.  “We were under no circumstances allowed to touch any of those dogs, which was hard.  Animal welfare comes before anything, and that was my job.  I don’t believe I would be doing it properly if I would sit back and think that’s OK.  It wasn’t OK – it’s not OK.”

Now, there is a “destruction order” sent down by a judge.  Stella is set to be euthanized under the Dangerous Dogs Act, and her human only has 21 days to appeal the decision.  Her human has been arguing her case for her the whole time, and there is no evidence that Stella has ever posed a danger to anyone.  The only evidence that was shown, was video footage of Stella locked up in the kennels, nothing else.

The Great Animal Rescue Chase and Harmony Fund reported on their Facebook page that two kind people learned of the dog being stuck in the well, and acted quickly to rescue him. They also posted the video of the rescue at the bottom of this article. After getting the dog out of the well, they decided to call the dog Christmas.

“Surprisingly, the dog is in fairly good, physical condition,” said Laura Simpson. Simpson is the founder of The Harmony Fund. “The blindness of course is from a pre-existing condition, but he’s not in foster care and we’re hoping he can find a home where he’s loved and respected in the way he should be.”

According to the rescuers, the dog may have been searching out food in the area when he found himself falling into the well. Some kids in the area were tossing food down to him for quite a while before they were told about it, and apparently no one else cared enough to rescue him.

The two men are named Fahrudin Caki Bravo and Ratko Koblar. They worked together to get down into the well, so they could get him out carefully and safely. It was Bravo that was lowered into the 28-foot deep well, and once out, Christmas seemed all too happy to have been rescued.

Bracyn, a blind Welsh springer spaniel, has survived a fall down a 100 foot cliff.  He had run down a sloped area on a coastal path, but lost his footing on the way down.  He toppled over himself, and tumbled the rest of the way down.

When Bracyn landed, beach-goers ran to his side, and stayed with him until help arrived.  He was taken to a local animal hospital to be treated.  As of the time of this writing, Bracyn is in good condition, and recovering nicely.

One of the people interviewed by news outlets said, “It’s a miracle he survived a fall like that.  It’s the most drama we’ve had here since Broadchurch.”  (Broadchurch is an iTV program, filmed on location and not far from the fall area.)

Bracyn’s humans were on vacation from Buckinghamshire.  They were taking a walk on the cliffs to take in the amazing view when the dog took off.  They decided to let him run off a bit on his own, something that he usually handles just fine.  They are very happy that Bracyn is going to be OK.
