This is the look of a dog after 16 years with her owner is dumped at a Texas shelter

At Fort Worth Animal Care & Control, a 16-year-old white shepherd still watches for her owner to open up the door of her cage and greet her with hugs and kisses. Instead, it was Sheba’s owner who decided to surrender her on May 6, 2021, citing “health of animal” as the reason to leave her at a high kill Texas animal care facility.

So what are Sheba’s health issues? The medical notes state she has arthritis, severe tartar and worn down teeth. When she was spayed at the shelter, cysts and possible tumors in her ovaries were removed. She is heartworm negative and weighs 61 pounds. Not unexpected though, Sheba’s owner left no information about the dog’s health or past veterinarian information.

Sheba’s advocate was not permitted to take Sheba outdoors, but when she offered the dog some treats, Sheba just laid there shaking; how utterly heartbreaking.

Share Sheba’s plight with approved rescue organizations, friends, family and social media contacts. Sharing saves lives, and surely this dog deserves better. Donations are being pledged to help with her medical expenses to an approved rescue organization and will be paid after Sheba is safely out of the shelter.

Follow Sheba’s Facebook page as animal advocates continue to pledge funds and share her story.
