In Branford, Connecticut Bella was surrendered on Thursday by her owner to the Dan Cosgrove Animal Shelter. Too often the excuses for dumping dogs at animal shelters are the same; too much work, can’t pay for the training or don’t have the time to give the dog what he needs.
This is what happens when a dog is surrendered to a shelter too many times.
This is her shaking, refusing to make eye contact, refusing to eat and too scared to move from one spot.
She has completely given up, and this is just three days after her owner left her and walked away.
Check out her video:
Every day "owners" give up dogs to our shelter because the dog becomes too much work or they don't want to pay for training or they no longer have the time to dedicate to what the dog needs. If you are adopting an animal, it should be considered a lifetime commitment. Just know that when you give your dog up many times this is what happens once they are put into the kennel, they shake, they won't look at you, or eat, they are too scared to move from their spot. Bella is still this scared 3 days later. : (
