A tiny puppy, just eight weeks of age, was found roaming the streets in Alabama with mutilated ears which were sewn up with fishing line. The pit bull mix puppy, dubbed Van Gogh, was taken under the wing of the Amazing Grace Bully Rescue in Pensacola, Florida.
According to Fox 35 Orlando, Van Gogh was taken to the Hillman Veterinary Clinic for treatment. He required surgery to repair the damage to his ears, but infection had set in and he had to receive antibiotics for five days before the surgery could be performed. Now little Van Gogh is well on the road to recovery and he even has a forever home waiting for him.
Sasha Corbett, Van Gogh’s foster mom, tells the news agency:
A client at Hillman that I know was looking for a dog with special needs and the ones she wanted were adopted. She saw his picture when we posted it and immediately fell in love.”
Nobody knows who is responsible for mutilating the puppy’s ears – if that person was found, they could face animal cruelty charges.
