Not all dogs are adopted as puppies and live wonderful lives in homes that care for them. Sometimes, dogs take the long way round.

In this illustrated webcomic, written by myself and drawn by the very talented Barbara Mazzi, a dog is born into a puppy mill, purchased in a pet shop, given as a gift for Christmas, and then surrendered to a shelter when he becomes too “difficult.”

But that isn’t where his story ends. In fact, that’s only the beginning. 

The Life of a Shelter Dog is about the journey some dogs take on the way to finding a forever family – one that loves and cares for them unconditionally. Spoiler alert: it has a happy ending.
