Someone Abandoned This Sad Puppy On A Stoop With Nothing But A Note And A Bag Of Half-Eaten Pizza

A sad Pitbull puppy named Diamond was abandoned on a stoop in Philadelphia with nothing but a note and a plastic bag filled with half-eaten pizza.

A man named Justin Hanley found the pup tied to his steps by her leash when he looked out his window that afternoon. He quickly went outside to check on the dog and saw the note which was left under the mat.

The note read: Please take me home. I’m a girl named Diamond. We can no longer keep her in our home. Thank you.”
Next to the pup and note was the bag of pizza.

“Clearly, if somebody is feeding a dog pizza they weren’t equipped to handle a dog in the first place,” Hanley told Philly.com.

Hanley took the puppy in but knew he wasn’t able to keep her. But he made it a priority to find her a loving home. In the meantime, he gave her water and food to eat. She was nervous at first, but once Hanley fed her and called her by her name, she grew to be very sweet and affectionate.

He posted the puppy’s picture to his neighborhood’s Facebook group, asking for advice from someone who deals with abandoned or lost dogs. Unfortunately, no one recognized the puppy or who she could’ve belonged to, but tons of people commented and messaged Hanley willing to help.

A few hours later, Hanley was in touch with volunteers from Don’t Bully Us, an animal rescue group based in New Jersey. The volunteers came to pick Diamond up and brought her to a foster home.

Her foster home is on a lake with plenty of room for her to play, and she even has a puppy foster sibling there to keep her company.

Her foster renamed her Serenity and she is now up for adoption. She is thought to be around five months old and is a very friendly, happy puppy.

So many people were willing to help this pup that it restored Hanley’s faith in humanity.

As sad as the situation was, thankfully Serenity got her happy ending. If you’re unable to care for your pet any longer, the best option is to bring him or her to a no-kill shelter or a rescue group who can find them a good home.
