Famous YouTuber, PewDiePie, is in mourning following the passing of his much-loved one-eyed pug, Maya, at the age of 17.
PewDiePie, whose real name is Felix Arvid Ulf Kjellberg, paid tribute to his dear friend earlier this week via Instagram. He thanked Maya for “brightening up my days” through a series of shared images that traced their shared journey over the years.
“This morning, we bid farewell to my little Maya,” wrote PewDiePie. “Though 17 years is a lengthy lifespan for a pug, no amount of time would ever seem enough.”

“I never imagined that I could love a dog as deeply as I loved her.
Thank you for the wonderful moments we shared, for consistently brightening my days, and for bringing Marzia and I even closer together.
You will forever have a place in my heart, Maya. I miss you immensely already.”
The YouTube superstar had previously been open about Maya’s health issues, including her early diagnosis with dementia.
“We’ll see how she progresses,” he had mentioned in an earlier video. “Maya has ‘dementies.’ She is quite old. Her mental faculties are somewhat diminished.”
PewDiePie’s net worth is estimated at $30 million (£24.7 million). He boasts the highest number of YouTube subscribers globally (111 million), and Time magazine named him one of the most influential people in 2016.

His parents, Johanna and Ulf Kjellberg, both helm successful companies in Sweden. PewDiePie married his longtime girlfriend, Marzia Bisogin, in a stunning London ceremony in 2019, eight years after they first met.
