Brigitte Nielsen Mourns The Loss Of Her Rescue Dog, Tootsie, With A Heartfelt Post

Saying goodbye is so hard.

Longtime Danish actress and model, Brigitte Nielsen, is heartbroken after her beloved rescue dog, Tootsie, had to be put to sleep. Nielsen rescued Tootsie from a shelter fourteen years ago. She announced the devastating news to her fans on Monday.

Nielsen posted on Instagram, “Sad day today. Very lucky to have met her at the shelter but now, after 14 years with us, we had to put Tootsie to sleep. Our family will never forget the joyful and loving moments she unconditionally always gave to us. If a paradise exists, one day we’ll meet her there.”

It appears Tootsie died from cancer as the actress added #cancersucks to the post.

Two photos were added to the heartfelt post – one featuring Nielsen holding Tootsie and another of the senior dog with a pink flower.

The family’s other rescue dog is also mourning the loss of Tootsie. The two dogs were pictured together a few years ago at Easter on Instagram.

Tootsie appeared often on her mother’s social media and will be greatly missed. Nielsen’s followers sent their condolences and thanked her for rescuing the sweet girl. One wrote, “So sorry for you. The love you get from a dog you can’t compare. They really move into your ❤️.”

We are so sorry for your loss.
