Villalobos Rescue Center, in New Orleans is “bursting at the seams.” On a sad Sunday morning, a terrified brown and white dog huddled at the side of the building. She had been tied to a post; her owner may have felt some compassion leaving her with a blanket where she stayed, but for Tia Maria Torres, founder of the rescue, the abandoned dog only emphasized the severity of the situation.
“This morning was one of those times where one small thing just pushes you over the edge. Coming into the New Orleans facility and seeing this petrified dog chained up to the side of our building… it sent me to my breaking point,” Torres wrote on the organization’s Facebook page.
There is just no more room at the rescue, and although adoptions have been moving along, transport partners have been helping and a successful television show, the rescue remains in a crisis situation.
“Between the amount of dogs and limited amount of space … we are busting at the seams and all the while, donations are trickling in. I don’t know if it’s a matter of people thinking we’re ‘rollin in the dough’ because of the tv show or what, but truth be told … it is not so … not even close,” Torres continued.
At this point, the abandoned pooch won’t allow anyone to get near her. She needs help, and so does Villalobos.
