Dad turns in daughter for starving dog

After seeing a photo of a starving dog circulating on social media, a man was forced to make a difficult decision…to turn in his own daughter. William Wright reported his daughter, and her live-in girlfriend, to the Washington Area Humane Society because he suspected that they were the dog’s owners – he told WPXI News that he alerted officials because he wants her to be held accountable for her actions.

The accused

After Wright reported the situation, his daughter Tonysha Wright, and her girlfriend, Tonya Papa, were arrested and now they are facing felony animal cruelty charges for allegedly starving and then abandoning their two dogs on Sugar Run Road in Nottingham Township, PA, last week.

Wright not only reported his daughter, but he made her go out and help find the dogs who had been left to fend for themselves.

William Wright is baffled by the cruel situation – telling the news agency that he doesn’t know where his daughter went wrong because he has always had a dog, and explaining that his daughter “knows how to take care of a dog.”

The dogs

Both dogs who were abandoned have been found – one is in a foster home and the other is receiving treatment, but is “doing well.” On December 7, the animal welfare agency provided an update about one of the dogs, who has been dubbed Snowy:

Snowy left for her foster home yesterday where she will spend the next few weeks recuperating, and gaining weight. She will be shown tons of love in her new foster home and will be able to relax in her brand new therapeutic bed. Thank you for everyone who has reached out about Snowy, and that has filled out a foster application. We picked the best fit for her, someone who is one on one with her and able to give her all the attention she deserves.
