Dog Found Neglected and Severely Matted Gets a New Chance at Life, Now He’s Ready for a New Home

When your human disappears and you don’t know why they just stopped being there, you turn to the comfort of the rest of your canine family. Billy was a part of a family of dogs that was left alone to survive when their person passed away.

It took too long for anyone to help this family of dogs who were left with absolutely no care, no food, no grooming, nothing. One of the tiniest dogs, Gidget, was the acting matriarch of this group and she cared for Billy as her child.

When the time came for the property to be sold, the canine family of seven dogs was finally addressed. They were brought to The Cat House on the Kings because, even though we are mostly a cat rescue, we are excellent at severe case dog rescue, as well, especially now with all shelters being overwhelmed.

All of the dogs were in dire condition, and being breeds that need consistent grooming, they were painfully matted. It was all hands on deck to care for this large group of dogs in varying levels of need. They certainly all needed baths, shaving, and head to tail grooming! We had a special team of volunteers come in to lovingly provide all that was needed for them in just one day.

This was important because even through the high priority was to get them healthy with food, water, medication and vaccines, it was also vital to get them to feel good with humans again. Being alone, scared, abandoned, and confused makes healing slow way down. We wanted to find their sweet inner spirit and let it know it was safe to enjoy life again.

Billy is now in a loving foster home, where he is thriving and learning that many humans will share love with him. He really needs to find his adoptive person or persons so that he can create his life bond that he hungers for, as he is still a puppy at heart. His adoption would also open up his fabulous foster home for another baby who needs a safe place to grow. Here’s Billy’s adoption profile:

Billy is a cute, fun loving four-year-old dog. He weighs about 11 pounds in his Pomeranian and Bichon blended body. He loves to play with toys, to run around the yard, and cuddle on the couch. He is potty trained and does well with most dogs who are calm and respect his space. He is okay with cats, as well. Billy would do best in a home with no children.
