Dog Takes The Bus Alone To The Park Every Day For Some Exercise

We all want what is best for our pets and this includes getting them out for some exercise regularly. It can be difficult to do, especially if you have a busy schedule. But, it isn’t fair to the dog to keep them stuck inside all day long.

Imagine how much easier life would be if the dog could take itself for a walk!

As it turns out, it may not be that far-fetched of a wish. In the United States, there is one dog that is not only capable of caring for itself in this way but she also takes the bus alone to the dog park and back.

The dog’s name is Eclipse and she’s a cross between a mastiff and a labrador retriever. Jeff Young, the dog’s owner, used to take Eclipse to the bus stop in Seattle, Washington, and they would go to the Belltown dog park together.

“It started when her owner, Jeff Young, was taking too long when the bus arrived, so she impatiently ran ahead and got on the bus by herself,” Robbie Wrote.

“The bus driver recognized her and dropped her off at the dog park, and later Jeff caught up with her. After several more trips by herself, Jeff started letting her go on her own, and she always comes back home a couple of hours later.”

Robbie Lauren is another Seattle native that set up a Facebook page for Eclipse. It seems as if the dog knows exactly what to do, even when Jeff isn’t around.

“Every day she leaves her house, by herself, and takes the bus downtown to the dog park where she spends a couple of hours getting exercise and making friends, and then she takes the bus back home again.”

“She even has her own bus pass attached to the collar.”

When people see Eclipse riding the bus on the D line, they take pictures and upload them to social media. Eclipse is quickly becoming a celebrity.

In fact, she has over 78,000 followers on Facebook, and it seems as if everyone wants to get on the same bus as her.

Lauren is another local who said that everybody loves seeing Eclipse when she hops on the bus: “All of the bus drivers know her and she makes them smile, and many of the regular passengers enjoy seeing her every day and will often sit down next to her.”

“Even the police have given their approval as long as the bus drivers are okay with the arrangement.”

“She makes everybody happy.”

Jeff does get some concerned comments from people occasionally when they think that Eclipse has run away. He just tells them that she knows where she is heading and that he is right behind her.
