Dog who fell off shrimp boat found alive days later after swimming six miles to shore

Keith “Kiwi” Soffes, a shrimp boat captain from San Leon, Texas, shares an extraordinary bond with his dog, Monster, who accompanies him on his daily voyages into the open sea.

During a recent expedition, however, this seemingly routine experience took a harrowing turn when Monster accidentally fell overboard. Even though Monster had accompanied Keith on the boat since she was a puppy, and was familiar with the sea, she disappeared without a trace on that fateful day.

Keith desperately searched for her, but with each passing minute, his concern turned into deep despair. “I lost the one thing in this world that I truly loved. I’m completely heartbroken,” Keith confessed.

Turning to social media, Keith shared the incident, hoping that Monster might be found. His heartbreaking story resonated with many, who showered him with supportive messages and prayers.

Miraculously, five days after Monster went missing, Keith received the news he had been hoping for: Monster was alive. And her story of survival was nothing short of incredible.

As reported by FOX 26 Houston, Monster was found safe days after making it to the shore. The details left Keith stunned. Despite the odds, Monster had survived by swimming a remarkable five to six miles across Galveston Bay to reach land.

“I told myself, ‘Man, she couldn’t have made that swim. There’s no way that dog could have swum that far,'” Keith told FOX 26, amazed at his pet’s determination and strength.

The reunion between Keith and Monster was heartwarming and emotional, marking the end of several distressing days of separation.

“I couldn’t even speak because I was crying so hard,” Keith shared. “She was smothering me with kisses.”
