Hero Pit Bull Saves Baby From Burning Apartment

“I owe her everything,” Nana Chaichanhda said of her dog Sasha. “If it wasn’t for her, I would have still been in bed and things could have taken a worse turn.”

Today, a little girl is alive, a family in California safe and sound, and an 8-month-old Pit Bull a hero. A short while ago, they were all in danger of burning alive in a catastrophic house fire.

Pit Bull Sasha apparently knew just what to do when a fire broke out in her owner Nana Chaichanhda’s home in Stockton, Calif. According to Fox News, Sasha was outside when the fire started, but “began to bang on the back door” once she smelled smoke.

“My neighbors home was totally destroyed, and the fire was quickly spreading to my unit,” Chaichanhda wrote on a GoFundMe page. “[Sasha] was trying to warn us of the fire. I got out of bed to see what was going on. At that moment I opened the back door and Sasha ran into our home, straight into our bedroom.”

Nana made it out safely, but headed back towards the fiery apartment when she realized her 7-month-old daughter was still inside.

Once again, Sasha came to the rescue.

“She had already had my baby by the diaper and was dragging her off the bed,” Chaichanhda said. “I was like, ‘Oh my gosh, what are you doing?’”

The fire destroyed most of the 4-apartment building the family was living in, but they were lucky enough to emerge safely. Sasha, Chaichanhda and her baby daughter are staying at an aunt’s apartment, elsewhere in the development, while their home is demolished and rebuilt.

Officials are still unsure how the fire began in the first place.
