LWD Adoptable Dog of the Day: Meet Mimi

Gorgeous Mimi is 9 years young. Unbelievably, she was brought in to the vet to be euthanized because her owners had recently retired and wanted to travel more without the expense of boarding her! This raised our hackles quite a bit here at LWD, and we are thrilled to be able to share her story

The vet, who had been caring for Mimi since puppyhood, refused of course and had the owners sign her over to the clinic. Her doctor then reached out to the staff at Lab Rescue LRCP, enlisting them to help with not only her care, but her search for a new, loving home.

Mimi received about $200 in dental care before being declared ready for adoption, all funded by a grant from the Grey Muzzle Organization. She is now happy in a foster home, but can’t wait to find a permanent one!

Mimi’s foster mom says she settled in as if she’d always lived there, loves attention and wants to please. Her foster family has four other dogs and Mimi enjoys playing with her new friends. She knows basic commands, is easy on leash and rides well in the car. She is spayed, up to date on shots, heartworm negative and healthy at a weight of 48 pounds. She’s approved for kids 10 and up and while she loves dogs, she and cats don’t see eye-to-eye!

Check out this quick video, which features Ms. Mimi looking a little tentative at the kennel, then playing like a puppy with her foster siblings in the yard!

Lab Rescue LRCP rescues and places dogs in Maryland, Virginia, Washington D.C., West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Delaware and northeast North Carolina. Adopters must travel to Maryland, Virginia, or Washington, DC, with their family – human and canine – to meet the dog they want to adopt.
