A litter of abandoned kittens was found in a recycling bin on the side of the road. The cat, first assumed to be their mother, was snuggling them to keep them warm in the cold weather.
Someone was walking home when they spotted the kittens, and he immediately called the Homeless Animal Adoption League. He knew they would soon freeze to death if they didn’t get help.
The cat was doing its best to protect the abandoned kittens and even looked up at rescuers as if to say “thank you.” They covered the bin with a blanket and took them back to the shelter.
All of the cats were healthy and able to eat on their own. Initially they thought there were only four kittens but were surprised to find out there were actually six. But that wasn’t the only surprise…
The cat assumed to be their mother was actually a boy! It’s unclear if the cat was their dad, brother, or just another cat, but he acted as a surrogate mother and protected the kittens the best he could.
So the shelter named him Mrs. Doubtfire! The cat and employees would continue caring for these kittens until they eventually went on to their forever homes.
What a great story! Wherever the cat came from, he made it his mission to make sure those little kittens would never be alone again.
