Neighbor’s Labrador retriever saves 87-year-old woman who fell in snow

A neighbor’s alert Labrador retriever has been credited with saving the life of an 87-year-old woman who had fallen in the snow when temperatures dipped to one degree below zero in Alexandria, Minnesota. The dog, named Midnight, found the elderly woman on January 28 when the dog sensed something was wrong.

According to CBSNews, the four-year-old dog’s owner, Tim Curfman stated he had been taking out the garbage when his dog perked up her ears and stared at him as if something was just not right. He followed the dog to an area on the other side of the house, and there Curfman found Noreen, who had slipped in the snow while trying to fill her bird feeder.

“We figured she was out there at least a half an hour. She could not have gotten up because her gloves had gotten wet and she didn’t have enough strength in her fingers to push herself up. Nothing around the corner to get up and get a hold of either,” Curfman explained.

Curfman helped his neighbor back into the house where she was able to change her clothes and warm up. Fortunately she didn’t suffer any frostbite.

Midnight is one canine hero. Rumors have circulated that he has been rewarded with lots of treats!
