Omaha Therapy Dog Chows Down Cake for Special Gender Reveal

The Children’s Hospital and Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska, shared a special reveal on November 7 when its therapy dog, Sven, helped announce the gender of the hospital’s new four-legged friend.

In the Facebook Live post, Sven appeared to enjoy the gender reveal, gobbling down a special cake to uncover the pink color beneath that announced the arrival of a new female dog.

Sven’s handler, Britta Car, said in the video that she believed he would enjoy a buddy with which to spend downtime, and she also spoke about the importance of therapy dogs in the hospital.

The new dog, a “goldendoodle” called Sansa, will start her new job on November 12 after training in Georgia. She will work alongside Sven, “facilitating care, coping and comfort” for patients. Credit: Children’s Hospital & Medical Center via Storyful
