Pittsburgh Police Officer Adopts Dog She Rescued

Officer Christine Luffey of the Pittsburgh Police Department has decided to adopt a pit bull called Effie.  Officer Luffey was one of the officers responsible for executing a search and seizure warrant on a property where Effie was being kept when they first met.  Now, they’ll be together forever.

Effie’s previous owner, Gerald Walker Jr. was found guilty of willfully maiming an animal.  He’s been put on 18 months of probation.  During this time, he cannot have any animals at all in his possession or left in his care at any time, meaning that Effie was going to end up homeless.

Officer Luffey couldn’t let that stand, so she stepped up and adopted her.  The adoption will be made official later today according to reports.  What a true hero!
