Raleigh man accused of leaving 2 dogs in a box – one found dead

In a heartbreaking case of animal cruelty in Raleigh, a man faces charges for abandoning and abusing two dogs and abandoning them stuffed into a cardboard box along the side of the road behind Green Road Park.

According to WralNews, Rashawn Dennison, 29, has been accused of starving an adult dog to death and the surviving puppy extremely emaciated. A passerby who had been walking their own dog didn’t notice the dogs packed into the box until his dog went over to sniff and the Good Samaritan heard faint crying. He then called 911.

“Every morning I walk my little poodle the same route every day around the corner. I actually live around the corner from here,” the person who discovered the dogs in the box stated. “When I was passing I seen some trash over there but that’s regular to see that. And I seen a box and I didn’t think nothing of it until my dog went over there and started barking and sniffing by it. And I heard little like, I heard little sounds.”

Dennison has previous animal cruelty charges.
