Scared Kentucky shelter puppy gets national attention in viral video

When the Morgan County Animal Shelter in West Liberty, Kentucky posted a video of a scared three-month-old puppy as a shelter employee tried to pet the pooch earlier this week, the heartbreaking video went viral. Under the video, the description told the story:

“The only touch a dog should ever feel is one of kindness.”

Words weren’t needed to describe this puppy’s plight. The video has been shared more than 3.6 million times. (Caution – some may find the video disturbing. It is not violent.)

Shelter Director Kathy Sexton explained it did take a little while for the puppy named Ammo to relax and allow the gentle pats. Just days later, Ammo’s tail was wagging and the adorable pooch was giving away wet kisses.

Sadly Ammo is just another example of the emotional trauma puppies and dogs suffer as the result of abuse and neglect. It is hoped the video has brought awareness to the plight of these innocent victims. A few days later, Sexton posted a follow-up video of Ammo. Check how kindness and compassion have changed this terrified little one into a sweet, loving and affectionate puppy

Fortunately it didn’t take long for Sweet Souls Animal Rescue in Pennsylvania to arrange to help both Ammo and his “brother” Bullet. The two dogs will be fostered until they are ready to be placed for adoption.
