Gillion is in a dire situation. This five-year-old, 18-pound dog is under an “Orange Alert” at the South Los Angeles Shelter in California.

Upon arriving at the shelter two weeks ago, poor Gillion was infested with fleas and ticks and had a severe infection on his left hind leg. There were suspicions that his right hind leg might be irreparably fractured, but little was done to help him initially. Despite his sweet personality, he was only provided with pain medication. The shelter couldn’t determine whether Gillion had been hit by a car – leaving us to wonder about this innocent pup’s ordeal.

Four days later, Gillion’s leg had deteriorated to the point of necrosis, and the shelter had to amputate his right rear leg at mid-femur. Additionally, veterinarians had to remove foxtails from his ears. During the same period, he was neutered, making it an incredibly challenging time for Gillion.

Unfortunately, Gillion’s immune system has weakened, and he’s now battling an upper respiratory infection, putting him at risk of euthanasia at any moment.
