Every year they make a new one with a different theme, and all of the proceeds go to Children’s Hospital Foundation and the Westmead Children’s Hospital Burns Unit.  The photos in this collection are taken from the new 2017 line up, and this year, they went with rescue puppies.

This year, along with their regular donations, they be making an additional donation to the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.  All of the dogs featured are rescue puppies, and all are available for adoption.

Ashley works for Remax United Vision in Carina, Queensland.  She came up with the idea about two years ago when she was having an issue finding pet-friendly housing.  It took a lot of work just to figure out where would and wouldn’t allow pets.

“I found it very hard to work out which properties were pet-friendly, or weren’t,” said Ashley to Mashable Australia. “I thought, wouldn’t it make it easier for buyers if I could put Tiffany in my properties that are pet-friendly.”

The idea seemed to pay off very quickly.  The website that contained all of the property listings got way more hits when homes were featured with Tiffany in the photo spread.  At this point, Tiffany appears in almost every photo for every listing that is on the site.  In fact, anyone wishing to have Tiffany featured in their listings absolutely can do that.

“Sellers are ringing up and saying, we’ve seen your photos with Tiffany, can we get you to sell our house with her in it,” Ashley said.  “It’s kinda snowballed … we even get buyers asking us if Tiffany has been in other listings.”

She has even started to bring Tiffany with her to do open house events.  Tiffany really seems to enjoy what she’s doing, and most certainly enjoys the extra attention that she gets for all of her hard work.

“I now have her at the open homes to greet the buyers as well,” said Ashley. “Rather than people turning up and taking down names and numbers, making it a very clinical deal, it’s a real icebreaker to have the dog and makes buyers receptive to us.”

A family is happy to have their two-year-old daughter back home, safely after she decided to wander off from the family’s property.  They credit their dog who followed the child as she took off for keeping her safe.

It was at about 7:30 pm on Tuesday when two-year-old Sophia wandered off the family property.  They live south east of Melbourne in Australia.  The family dog is a one-year-old Australian sheepdog called Poppy, and Poppy decided to keep an eye on Sophia, following wherever she went.

In fact, police are saying that it was Poppy’s barks that alerted searchers to her whereabouts.  After a seven hour search Poppy and Sophia were found about 200 meters from a dam on the family’s property.

Sophia’s grandmother said, “The only thing I was thinking was well, hopefully the dog would have kept her warm.  If the dog wasn’t with her, I don’t know whether they would have found her.”

The family made a public statement thanking the searchers and emergency services for all of their hard work and effort as well.  They are very happy to be a whole family again, and said that Poppy would get an extra big, tasty treat for keeping Sophia safe and helping searchers find them.

Off of the southern coast of Australia lies Middle Island.  Middle Island is a beautiful and rugged terrain, and also houses a curiosity unlike any other in the region.  It plays host to the world’s smallest penguin, and the dogs that have come to love and protect them.

These little penguins stand a minuscule 30 to 40 centimeters tall.  This makes the name they used to be called, fairy penguins, all the cuter (if not 100% politically correct).  There used to be hundreds of them all over Middle Island, until the local fox population noticed them.  Then they became a snack.

Back in the year 2000, a problem with the population becoming too easy a prey for the local foxes became apparent.  The fox population exploded as a result, and something had to be done to stop things for going too far.  That’s when a man who goes by Swampy Marsh (we swear we’re not making this up) came up with a plan.

Marsh decided to send one of his Maremma dogs in to protect the tiny birds from the burgeoning fox population.  This breed of dog is commonly used for poultry protection on farms.  Many of these dogs spend a life time protecting chickens from these very same foxes, so why couldn’t it work for the penguins, too?

The first dog to be sent out onto the island to see if this would actually come together was called Oddball.  The effect was realized almost immediately.  Just Oddball’s presents was enough to ward off some of the foxes that would have preyed on the little fuzzy penguins.  They could hear the barking, and definitely smell the dogs on the island, and it definitely made any would be penguin eater think twice.

Since Oddball was introduced to the island ten years ago, there has been no reported deaths of the penguins that inhabit Middle Island.  The population is up around 200 to date, and the penguins have really taken to their canine protectors.  Even on the offhand times that a dog may not actually be around on the island, the foxes still smell them, and know that these birds are not to be messed with.
