Some believe that humans are the only species on the planet that rescue the weak. Other animals let the weaklings die off, in an effort to create a stronger species. And while Darwin was right about a lot, I’m inclined to call him on this one.

This video of a dog rescuing two pooches in serious trouble seems to defy all that “survival of the fittest” logic, doesn’t it?

That was awesome to see, and I’m sure that dog’s owner is very proud. He’s a hero and I hope he got lots of treats for that act of bravery and kindness!

Heroic Dog Spends Days Looking For Help And Comforting Owner After Fall Off Cliff

A world champion adventure racer, Danelle Ballengee was out for her practice run one day at a Utah Canyon. She slipped and plummeted 60 feet into a ledge shattering her hip bones. Helpless and unable to walk, she tried to drag herself as the temperature was cold and she was scared of getting hypothermia since it was the middle of winter season. Thank goodness for small mercies, her dog Taz was with her for her practice run and so she asked him to look for help. Taz did exactly as she asked him.

For two days, Taz would run further and further but would always go back to Danelle. Finally, he was spotted and when he saw that they were trying to catch him, he turned around and headed straight back to Danelle, making sure that they followed him. They figured, he must have ran about 15 miles when he led the rescuers to her.

This Blind Woman Is Alive Thanks To Her Service Dog Doing The Most AMAZING Thing

Maria Colon lost her eye sight in 1992 and now completely relies on her service dog, Yolanda, for assistance. So when she woke up in her Philadelphia home to the smell of smoke one night, she knew she was completely helpless and needed her amazing friend to save her. By shouting “danger” to Yolanda, the smart dog knew exactly what to do…she called 911!

If calling 911 wasn’t amazing enough, the heroic pup also dragged her owner out of the house while they waited for the emergency services to turn up.

The crazy part — this is not the first time Yolanda has called 911 for her owner. Last year she had to do the same after Maria fell in the house and got knocked unconscious. Someone get this dog a medal!

Heroic Dog’s Barking Saves Man From Fire

Everyone, meet Charlie–a Dachshund who was hailed as a hero after his barking saved a man’s life from a fire.

In Newfoundland Canada, a two-storey house was on fire at around 3 in the morning. The only person in the house at that time was a tenant living in the basement apartment, and with him was a Dachshund named Charlie. The man was asleep by the time the fire broke out. He was woken up not by the smoke alarm, but because of Charlie’s incessant barking. When he woke up, the basement was already covered with pitch black smoke. He was lucky that Charlie the Dachshund was there to warn him about the fire, or he wouldn’t have gotten out in time.

Heroic Rescued Dog Leads Workers To A Family On The Brink Of Death

Hero is a homeless dog living in a foster home that has proven to live up to his name by leading his foster owners to a homeless mother dog and her 10 sick puppies. While they were out one evening, Hero began barking to get the attention of his people and by his tone and persistence they knew something was wrong. As they followed him, Hero came to a small creek where the family was hiding. Mona, the mother, was lying with her newborn puppies after being abandoned and her babies were not in good shape. In fact, only nine were with her as the 10th was frozen outside the creek. Fortunately, the rescuers brought Mona and all 10 puppies in and everyone, including the frozen puppy, are on the road to perfect health and recovery.

Heroic Man’s Quest to Save a Dog from Death’s Door

Wilson Martins Coitinho is a real hero. He’s not an officer of the law or a soldier fighting in a war; he’s a hero that rescues dogs from the brink of death. The following photos are on the graphic side, so viewer discretion is advised.

He not only managed to get an emaciated and very sick dog off the streets, but brought the dog back to full health. The dog is currently staying with Coitinho, and is recovering quite nicely. All of it thanks to this heroic man, and the medical care staff that helped treatments go smoothly. All of them are very heroic people, and deserve some recognition for their efforts.

If you were to ask Mr. Coitinho what the reasons behind the effort are, he simply says, “Rescuing and rehabilitating injured and abused animals is just my thing.”

Heroic Officers Jump in Flooded River to Save Drowning Dog

On May 20, 2015, heroic police officers from Antioquia, Colombia, saved the life of a dog when they jumped into the fast flowing and flooded Liboriana River to retrieve the pet. The fast and dangerous current carried away the exhausted dog who was minutes away from drowning.

Due to extensive rainstorms, much of Salgar, Antiquia, fell victims of floods and landslides. Residents, pets and farm animals were all affected by the natural disaster and Colombia’s armed forced were dispatched to the area to assist and rescue those stranded by the flood.

When officers arrived at the Liboriana river they were looking to assist anyone attempting to cross the river, and what they found instead was a pet struggling to stay alive, floating in the turbulent waters.

At first officers believed the dog was dead, but they soon realized the pet was alive and was alive and needed help. Immediately, the hero men ran along the river trying to catch up to the dog and save him.

In the Spanish speaking video (captured by one of the police officers) you can hear how the men encourage each other to run faster and jump into the river. After a short chase, one of the officers jumped in and caught the dog. Another officer helped the rescuer and the four-legged victim get out of the water. As soon as they were on safe land the canine received CPR.

The officers then walked the dog to their police vehicle parked on a dirt road, there they continued to help the pet by giving him IV fluids.

The hero men have named the dog Pincipe (Spanish for Prince) and hope to reunite him with his family. However, if the dog’s original family is not located, the officers plan to adopt Principe and make him part of their unit.
