Blind Great Dane puppy learns to socialize

Lisa Porter of Marley’s Mutts Dog Rescue helps instruct this foster mom how to socialize Nora, a blind Great Dane, with other dogs. Since Nora can’t see and is not even a year old, she startles easily and gets overwhelmed very quickly. It’s important that she trust whoever is holding the leash, but also that the dogs she’s meeting do not get too excited right away. Great job Nora!

Have you ever tried hula hooping, ever? I have. It’s great for the waistline…so they say but I could never keep it there. Somehow, I could never manage to keep it going around my waistline and it kept going down, straight down to the floor. I should have gotten some tips from this doggy! Quite a novel idea to hold on tight to the hoolahoop and then go around in circles faster and faster. That way, you’d end up looking like it’s the hoolahoop that’s going around and not you haha!

Silly dog, why don’t you let go of the hoolahoop so you won’t get too dizzy from going round and round. You need to rest too, you know! Sure, it’s a fun game but you do get me all tuckered out! What say, you stop and let’s go have something to drink!

Dogs are so much fun to watch when they do silly things. More so when they seem to get frustrated and even if you tell them to stop, they refuse to do so cos they are getting upset and frustrated. It’s only when they finally figure out for themselves what they need to do that they stop. Talk about perseverance and stamina!!

Brave Paralyzed Doberman Learns To Walk Again

Meet Kenny. When Kenny was rescued in April 2013, he had suffered a severe spinal injury that left him completely paralyzed. His situation was so dire many experts believed that he would never walk again and should be euthanized. Fortunately for Kenny, the good people at Two Hands Four Paws had faith in Kenny and never gave up on him. The results we see today are nothing short of a miracle. His recovery is truly amazing and we can’t even believe that this is the same dog that was carried into rescue, unable to move. Watch to see Kenny’s incredible transformation, but not without a box of tissues nearby!

Smart Cookie Learns a New Trick Every Day for Charity

Bella is a Cocker Spaniel who could give any smart dog a run for their money – even Chaser, the Border Collie who knows over 1,000 words. She is learning a new trick every day for a year to raise money for charity.

Lynn Stacey of the UK has a variety of disabilities, and says she’d be lost without her assistance dog, Bella.

“You wouldn’t believe what Bella can do, she’s amazing. From fetching me things to helping me undress and emptying the washing machine. I’d be lost without her,” she told the Sunderland Echo.

Because she’s so smart, Stacey is putting her to the challenge by teaching her a trick a day to raise money for Dog A.I.D., an organization that helps disabled clients train their pets to assist them with tasks.

“We already do the Dog A.I.D stand at Crufts to inform people about the charity, but I also wanted to do something completely different to help them.

“Bella is already a Champion Trick Dog and she loves doing her tricks so I thought, why not do a trick a day for a year?”

Stacey uploads videos of Bella’s tricks to the website, where people can sponsor specific tricks.

“Some are very simple tricks, some are more complex. She plays dead, does the meerkat where she stands on her back legs, and does a hand stand on her front legs, all sorts of things.

“We’ve raised £160 ($240) so far and we’re hoping to raise £1,000 ($1,500) by the end of the year.”

Stacey is training to be an Associate Trick Dog instructor, and says that performing makes Bella happy.

“Bella is at her best when she is learning, so adding tricks to her existing knowledge base made perfect sense,” she said. “It has brought us closer as a working partnership and many of the tricks have a purpose in our everyday life as well.”
