If you’re a dog owner, you would do just about anything for your little pup. There is no mountain high enough, valley low enough, or river wide enough to keep you from staying with your pooch through thick and thin.

And these people take that notion quite literally. When you see them rescuing dogs from dangerous situations, you’ll be astounded by the number of risks they take for our canine companions.

Thank goodness people like this exist in the world! Because without them, these dogs might not have made it out alive.

Heroic Man’s Quest to Save a Dog from Death’s Door

Wilson Martins Coitinho is a real hero. He’s not an officer of the law or a soldier fighting in a war; he’s a hero that rescues dogs from the brink of death. The following photos are on the graphic side, so viewer discretion is advised.

He not only managed to get an emaciated and very sick dog off the streets, but brought the dog back to full health. The dog is currently staying with Coitinho, and is recovering quite nicely. All of it thanks to this heroic man, and the medical care staff that helped treatments go smoothly. All of them are very heroic people, and deserve some recognition for their efforts.

If you were to ask Mr. Coitinho what the reasons behind the effort are, he simply says, “Rescuing and rehabilitating injured and abused animals is just my thing.”

Deceased Homeless Man’s Dog Continues to Look for Dead Owner

Gato (Spanish for Cat) belonged to Benjamín González Sánchez, a homeless man from Guadalajata, Jasisco, Mexico, who unfortunately died two weeks ago of hypothermia. The dog and his owner used to sleep outside one of the entrances to Jalisco Stadium, but since the passing of González Sánchez, the dog simply roams the streets alone without anyone to look over him, get him food, or protect him from the cold.

The story of Gato went viral on social networks when local residents started campaigning to get the dog off the streets and hopefully find him a new loving owner.Every night, since the passing of the homeless man, the loyal dog goes back to the stadium’s entrance as if looking for his owner and hoping to find his human sleeping there. However, every night Gato’s heart is broken when the dog doesn’t find González Sánchez.

During the day, Gato roams the same places he visited with his former owner and scavenges for food. Even though some local residents have a tendency to abuse the dog and scare him off their property, Gato continues to be a friendly dog.
