About two years ago, a man named Jose from Columbus, Wisconsin, was facing hard times. He lost his wife, job, and eventually had to live out of a car. Jose adopted a puppy he named Chaos to be his companion. The dog helped him through many hard times, but he knew that such a large animal would need a better living situation temporarily. A friend of a friend took in the dog, but once Jose got back on his feet, they refused to give the dog back.

Recently, a Winnebago County Services staff member found a stray dog with a 2014 National Identification Number collar.

Amazingly, that dog was Chaos…and when the rescue called the number associated with the collar, Jose answered! He thought that his dog was gone for good, but fate had a different plan in mind.

Chaos was there, and he was ready to reunite with his family.

The next day, Jose picked up Chaos at the shelter. The dog’s reaction is amazing.

Last week, completely out of the blue, Dove got a phone call from a vet clinic near the town of Brewton, Alabama.  Someone had found Charlie, and when they scanned his chip, Dove’s information came up!  There was no doubt about it, Charlie had been found, and would be coming home.

“I was shocked, overwhelmed. I cried,” Dove said in a news interview Thursday.  “It’s amazing.”

No one is sure just where Charlie has been all this time.  Ten years is a very long time for a dog to be on their own, but Charlie seems no worse for the wear.  He’s a bit gray in the fur here and there and is in need of medical treatment for a minor issue, but he’ll be on his way home soon.

“It will be a lengthy road for him, but he’ll be home,” said Dove.

Dove was living in a different place back when Charlie first went missing.  Charlie is of a breed that is commonly used as a hunting dog, and can be very expensive to adopt and train.  Dove believes that someone took Charlie off of their property because of this.

“He’s an expensive hunting dog.  We just kept him as a pet,” said Dove.  “He was a spoiled rotten pet.  I was shocked and at first I thought ‘This has got to be a scam’ because it’s been 10 years.  They sent me a picture and I talked with them, and it’s my Charlie.”

A stolen dog could have died without his seizure medication, but it is very likely his condition that allowed him to be reunited with his family.

Ziggy was taken from his Fulton, London home on Monday night. His family was distraught, especially knowing that their dog has epilepsy that must be controlled with medication.

On Tuesday, he was found wandering by himself in Wrabness Woods, 85 miles from his home. Ziggy’s microchip scan revealed his condition, along with his missing status.

Tendring District Council says it is likely Ziggy suffered from a seizure, causing his abductor(s) to dump him in the woods.

“I have spoken to Ziggy’s owner who is extremely relieved that he has been found safe and well, despite his ordeal,” said dog warden Adam McGoldrick.

“Cases such as this show how important it is to get your pet microchipped, and then to keep the information on that microchip up to date.”

Ziggy was reunited with his family on Wednesday.
