A stray American bulldog mix named Mr. Snufflufugus recently found himself wandering the outskirts of Copperas Cove, Texas, abandoned and afraid, hoping to find help. His hopes materialized when local animal control officers rescued him and brought him to the Copperas Cove Animal Control shelter.
Overwhelmed with relief, Mr. Snufflufugus couldn’t contain his gratitude and joy. He embraced animal control supervisor Tamara Hall with a heartwarming snuggle, creating a moment that was captured by fellow staff member, Victoria Watkins-Killebrew.
“Victoria and I were in the play area with Mr. Snufflufugus when he decided he needed a hug,” Hall shared with The Dodo. “As his favorite, I benefit from his extra-special hugs and kisses!”
Quickly, Mr. Snufflufugus became known at the shelter for his affectionate nature and eagerness to cuddle. “If you are sitting on the floor or ground, he is sure to seek your attention by climbing into your lap or snuggling up next to you,” Hall added.
In addition to seeking affection, Mr. Snufflufugus enjoys short walks, but prefers to spend his time relaxing. As Hall notes, “He loves to go out for short walks, but he is a couch potato type of dog.”
Following the viral photo of Mr. Snufflufugus hugging Hall, the Copperas Cove Animal Control received a surge of adoption applications. The small shelter, however, has limited resources to handle the sudden influx, and is now in the process of transferring Mr. Snufflufugus to a larger rescue organization that can better find his perfect match.
Meanwhile, Mr. Snufflufugus continues to enjoy his time at Copperas Cove, showering his friends with love and learning how to be a good boy from the shelter’s dedicated volunteers. This lovable dog is eagerly awaiting his forever family, ready with lots of warm hugs for when they finally meet.
