A stray dog named Way from Buenos Aires is being hailed a hero after going beyond her call of duty as a mother. The street dog had just given birth to a litter of puppies and was doing everything she could to care for them, but her family was about to grow by one.
Way was always able to take care of herself, but now she had to feed an entire family. She would scour the streets looking for any food scraps she could find. And now in the dead of winter, she had to hurry to keep her babies warm.
But that’s when Way came across a newborn human baby in an alley abandoned and all alone. Her maternal instincts kicked in, and she ran back to her pups and brought them over and placed them around the baby for warmth. Then she curled up around the group as best as possible.
It was the next morning when a local resident named Alejandria Griffin heard crying outside of her house. She went outside to look, and she couldn’t believe what she was seeing: a stray dog with a human baby among her puppies. The woman called the police for help.
The baby, now named Santino, was rushed to the hospital for medical attention. Alejandria told the police and doctors about the stray dog’s actions, and they truly believe the baby would’ve died if not for Way.
Baby Santino was in surprisingly good shape for everything he’d just been through, and it was all thanks to the amazing care Way had provided as a surrogate mother.
Police were able to track down the baby’s mother, a 33-year-old Buenos Aires woman who already had eight other children. She was arrested and charged with abandoning her baby.
Way was taken to a local shelter where she and her babies could be cared for until they found a forever home. It’s good news all around in this story! 🙂
